WANTED: Male Hookers
The owner of a Nevada brothel suffering from the recession thinks she has been ignoring about half the market – the half that prefers men. Bobbi Davis is looking for male prostitutes to help expand the clientele at the Shady Lady Ranch, her small roadside brothel about 150 miles north of Las Vegas. Davis says the requests she has received for male prostitutes have come mostly from women, but that she also would welcome business for M4M.
“We’ve had requests for men in the past, and there’s nothing else like this out there.”
Indeed, the 25 legal brothels scattered throughout 10 rural Nevada counties are staffed by women and cater to men. The Shady Lady, however, isn’t the only one thinking about hiring male prostitutes. Nevada Brothel Association lobbyist George Flint says other brothels have approached him with the idea lately to drum up business.
Like Nevada’s gambling, hotel and convention industries, the prostitution business has hit hard times. Flint estimates that bordellos have seen a roughly 50 percent drop in revenue since the economy turned sour.
“Business is so bad right now, I think brothels would do anything to survive. Disposable income is just in short supply at the moment,” he said.
200306Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss recently planned to open “Heidi’s Stud Farm” near Pahrump, but gave up the effort this year after being arrested on felony drug charges. Flint says other brothels have offered male prostitutes over the years, with little success. He argues that the business model for a brothel that caters to women just doesn’t pencil out.
“Seducing a woman and seducing a man in a brothel environment are different things completely. One can take a few minutes, the other can take hours. It wouldn’t make money,” he said.
Davis agrees that women customers could differ significantly from men, though she plans at least initially to keep her current prices for services – $500 for two hours, $800 for three.
“That may change. We’re figuring that women may want a longer period of time, maybe a little more romance. They’re not quite like men in that respect,” she said.
So what about those requests for male prostitutes from men seeking men?
“I can’t discriminate, nor would I want to,” she said, adding that it would be up to prostitutes to decide whether they entertain any particular guest.

Taiwanese military scandalised by gay vid
Taiwan's military17 of Taiwan's servicemen have been punished after a sexy video involving two on duty male sergeants came to light. Two uniformed soldiers are shown having oral sex while 40 other servicemen watched and laughed.
"The defence ministry has disciplined 13 members of the reserve brigade and sent another four to prosecutors for involvement in public obscenity and spreading an obscene image," it said in a statement. They were disciplined for "failing to prevent a major incident from happening to damage the military honour."
The incident actually happened three years ago but was just now publicized when a cable news channel shared images with the public.

store employee fired after chasing thief
A Texas man was fired from his job at a Randalls grocery store after chasing down a purse thief, the Austin American-Statesman (statesman.com) said.
Troy Schafer, 36, of Bee Cave, had just come into the store from a break when he heard customer Ann Welch, 52, call for help. Someone dashed past Welch, taking her purse before exiting the store.
A customer called police while Schafer chased the suspect and collected the purse, which had been dropped in a field. Schafer told the American-Statesman that Welch's purse was recovered, along with all of her money. The police arrested a 15-year-old suspect.
A few days after the episode, Schafer was fired. Randalls spokeswoman Connie Yates told the American-Statesman that as a Randalls employee, Schafer had been trained not to pursue suspects. Employees are supposed to get as much information as possible to give police.
"I still feel like I did the right thing. I couldn't look myself in the mirror the next day if I didn't help that lady," Schafer said. —

Two men charged with hate crimes at the World Outgames in Copenhagen are held in custody until August 4th. The two men are charged with violently assaulting three World Outgames participants just hours after the Grand opening show Saturday night, Pride Radio Denmark (PridRadio.dk) reports.
A group of three young Outgames participants from Norway, Sweden and England was treated for bruises at the emergency ward after being kicked and bashed by the two men just feet away from City Hall Square, where the Grand opening ceremony had taken place just minutes earlier. Copenhagen Police arrested two men aged 28 and 33 who are now in custody until the 4th of August.
Lord Mayer of Copenhagen Ritt Bjerregaard condemns the violence, “Regrettable and deplorable that someone can behave so irresponsible”, the Lord Mayer said in a statement released yesterday.

HBO: The Most Gay Content
HBO scored highest among 15 networks for its representation of gay characters last season, according to a report released Monday.
In its third annual Network Responsibility Index, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation found that of HBO’s 14 original prime-time series, 10 included content reflecting the lives of gay, bisexual and transgender people. That totalled 42% of the network’s programming hours, in series such as “True Blood,” “Entourage” and “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.”
By contrast, on NBC and CBS only 8% and 5%, respectively, of prime-time hours included them, the report said.
For the report, GLAAD reviewed all prime-time programming — totalling 4,901 hours — for inclusion of such characters or issues on the five major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW) from June 1, 2008, to May 31, 2009. The study also examined all original prime-time programming — 1,213 hours — on 10 prominent cable networks. The programming included dramas, comedies, unscripted fare and newsmagazines.
Cable’s Showtime ranked second, with 26% of its programming hours featuring gay characters or themes. Series included “The L Word,” “Weeds” and “The United States of Tara,” a new comedy about a family whose teenage son is gay.
ABC got the highest ranking of the five broadcast networks, with 24%. It was the second year in a row that ABC led the broadcasters.
Among ABC series, the report cited newlyweds Kevin and Scotty on “Brothers & Sisters,” the engagement of Andrew to Dr. Alex Cominis on “Desperate Housewives” and bisexual Dr. Callie Torres on “Grey’s Anatomy.”
The CW logged 20%, and the Fox network 11%, the report said.
Among the sampling of cable networks evaluated, TNT showed the largest growth, jumping to 19% last season from 1% the year before. This was largely thanks to its new drama series, “Raising the Bar,” which features gay law clerk Charlie Sagansky as a regular character, GLAAD said.
“Television shows that weave our stories into the fabric of the series present richer, more diverse representations,” said Rashad Robinson, GLAAD’s senior director of media programs.
In September, GLAAD will release its annual report evaluating gay, bisexual and transgender inclusion, and other diversity, among scripted characters scheduled to appear during the 2009-10 season. Monday’s report said TV characters in general are predominantly white, regardless of sexual orientation.
